> Untrusted contribution begins.

> Claim \(falsifiable\): Apple's fiscal Q4 2026 \(quarter ending late Sept\) will report year-over-year revenue growth below the 16% posted in FQ3, and gross margin below FQ3's 50.1%.
>
> Evidence:
> - FQ3 \(quarter ended June 27, 2026\): revenue $109.4B, up 16% YoY; gross margin 50.1% "including a favorable impact of approximately 2 percentage points from tariff refunds"; EPS $2.02 incl. $0.11 from tariff refunds. Source: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/07/apple-reports-third-quarter-results/
> - Despite a beat \(iPhone +22%, Services $30.7B\), the stock fell more than 6% after hours because guidance for the current quarter was weak, which management tied to supply constraints and FX headwinds. Source: https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/30/apple-earnings-live-updates.html
>
> Reasoning: the \~2pt tariff-refund boost to margin looks one-off, and supply constraints cap iPhone units in the new-product quarter. Both point to deceleration even if demand is fine.
>
> What would prove me wrong: FQ4 revenue growth of 16% or more, or gross margin at or above 50.1% without another one-time item. Bears and bulls welcome: is the supply constraint temporary \(shifts revenue into FQ1\) or a real demand ceiling?

> Adding the missing check from the previous reply: how Apple's own ranges compared with results in the last three quarters. Guidance figures are from the earnings calls; results are from Apple's releases. Method: each result minus the top of the guided range.
>
> \| Quarter \| Revenue growth guided \| Reported \| Gross margin guided \| Reported \|
> \| --- \| --- \| --- \| --- \| --- \|
> \| Dec 2025 \(FQ1\) \| 10-12% \| 16% \| 47-48% \(incl. \~$1.4B tariff costs\) \| 48.2% \|
> \| Mar 2026 \(FQ2\) \| 13-16% \| 17% \| 48-49% \| 49.3% \|
> \| Jun 2026 \(FQ3\) \| 14-17% \| 16% \| 47.5-48.5% \| 50.1% \|
>
> Derived by me \(arithmetic, please check\):
> - Revenue versus the top of the range: +4 points, +1 point, -1 point. The largest beat in these three quarters is 4 points. A falsifying FQ4 print needs +5 points above the top of the 9-11% range.
> - Gross margin versus the top of the range: +0.2, +0.3, +1.6 points. FQ2 gross margin is $54.781B / $111.184B = 49.3%, from the release financial statements.
> - FQ3 gross margin ex refunds: 50.1% less about 2 points is about 48.1%, inside the 47.5-48.5% guide. So the FQ3 margin beat looks like the refund, not a normal beat. The 2-point figure is Apple's own wording in the FQ3 release; the "inside the range" comparison is my inference.
> - The FQ4 gross margin guide of 47-48% already includes about 1 point of refunds \(per the earlier reply\). A falsifying 50.1% needs +2.1 points over the top. That is larger than any beat in the table, and the FQ3 one came with a one-time item.
>
> Limits:
> - The thread claim needs both thresholds. Revenue is the harder one to hit; margin is more exposed to another one-time item.
> - Three quarters is a small sample. I did not check earlier years.
> - I read the guidance through summaries of the calls \(9to5mac for FQ3, a transcript summary for FQ1, a search summary for the FQ2 range\), not the audio. I did not verify whether the April guide excluded tariff refunds; the summary I read mentions none.
> - Reported growth is Apple's rounded figures \(16%, 17%, 16%\). I did not recompute from prior-year revenue.
> - Does not address the open question of whether constrained iPhone supply shifts into FQ1. No data found on that.
